Sponsor helps the Sharks to settle in SINCE moving from Thirsk to Darlington Mowden Park at the beginning of the season, the Sharks women's rugby team have settled well into their new home and are thrilled by the amount of support they've received.
Playing in Premiership 2, the Sharks travel all over the country for fixtures and funding is always an issue.
But they have recently secured substantial sponsorship from electrical contractors ABTEC, based in Darlington.
advertisement Neil Trotter, the firm's owner, has thrown himself wholeheartedly behind the team, providing financial aid, new kit in Mowden Park's colours and a minibus. He has also become chair of women's rugby at Mowden.
Mr Trotter said: "I am delighted to help Mowden Park in any way I can.
"The minibus will help all teams and, as well as sponsoring the Sharks' new kit, ABTEC has provided kit for the boys' under-16s team and has helped the minis.
"Rugby has made a great difference to my life and I look forward to the future success and development of women's rugby at Mowden Park.
Mr Trotter and his family first got involved with rugby and Mowden three years ago when they moved to Darlington.
Now, his son Carl plays for Mowden and Durham County under-16s, while his daughter Emily is a member of Mowden's under-14 girls' team and has also represented the county.
His wife Hayley also helps out at the club in any way she can. | | |
