Sharks step up push for Premiership
Darlington Mowden Sharks continued their push toward the Women's Premiership with a 29 - 0 win against Waterloo - maintaing their unbeaten start to the season.
In what was a tough Championship North One clash, the Sharks were forced to defend for long periods from the start and although they took the pressure off with a try after 20 minutes, Waterloo continued to attack with vigour.
But the Shaks are unbeaten for a reason and the players got just reward for their resilience and composure with a score five minutes before the break. In the second half the Sharks made things easier for themselves by attacking with pace and, while they were again forced back by their opponents, managed to go over the whitewash three more times - converting two of the tries.
The victory was also a testament to the DMP's youth policy, with four 18-year olds appearing for the first team - three of whom came through the juniors and two
making their debuts.
Sharks are now preparing for their huge home game this Sunday against Camphill, who are second in the table and only four points away.
